SODDING

Sod is laid in a brick-like pattern, with edges butted against each other. Due to the shrinking nature of sod, it is recommended to slightly overlap ends.

Sod can be anchored into place with coat hangers, cut into pieces and bent into "hairpin" hooks. Mark locations and remove once sod is established.

The soil bed should be prepared as fine as for seeding.

Sod should be watered daily until established, usually one week. Avoid overwatering. Only a quarter inch of water is needed.

The best sod is cut from the field last than twenty four hours before laying. Avoid sod more than three days old.

When sodding a slope, lay pieces brick-like across the slope or incline instead of down to prevent water channels from developing.

Sod should be kept sprinkled until ready for use.
