PERSIMMONS--RIPE
Persimmons are native to the orient, as well as the
United States, depending on the type. Persimmons are ripe when slightly
soft and give slightly when gently squeezed.
Choose deep, rich orange fruit that have a lacquer-like
gleam to the skin.
Hard persimmons are sour and considered "pucker
fruit."
Ripen immature fruit by placing in a paper bag with
an apple or banana for several days.
