HOLLOW TREES

Hollow trees usually occur due to rotting organisms penetrating the tree and attacking the heartwood. However, since heartwood doesn't provide any water or food movement (it might, on some trees, be used as food storage), there is little problem of a tree dying.

However, hollow trees MAY run the risk of wind damage and falling as the tree ages.
